According to legend, in 1624, a man climbed to the top of mountain, and tried to commit suicide, after the death of his wife. Suddenly, Rosalia appeared before his eyes with a great revelation, she told him where her remains were to be found and ordered him to bring her bones to the city of Palermo, carrying them in procession through the city. Then, unbelievable things was happened, the plague ceased. After this incredible event, Saint Rosalia started being venerated as the patron saint of Palermo.
